Good evening everyone! As a long time fan of April Fool’s Day, and in honor of Rooster Teeth, I thought I’d celebrate by taking my site live on April 1st.
When I was a kid, I used to write stories and fantasize that the world around me was filled with hidden wonders. At some point, though, I’d set aside my writing because it wasn’t “productive” and I didn’t want to struggle to make a living with it. I’ll be honest: it has been one of my deepest regrets. I love a good story, and I love to tell one. So one gloomy November, I committed to writing my first draft for my first novel. Then, in November 2023, as I prepared my writing goals and my excuses for not meeting them, I found myself on Facebook readying my public declaration. Unfortunately, their “memory” section alerted me to the very first time I posted about writing my novel: 15 years prior. I’ve spent nearly half my life convincing myself that this would be the year, but never pushing to get it done. Oh, I’ve taken all sorts of measures to prepare myself: read “how to write” books, attended lectures from published authors, and even broken down numerous outlines and first drafts for various book and movie ideas. Yet when it came time to do the actual work, I always found a new distraction.
Cue my interests: juggling, music, singing, acting, reading, movies, video games, running, travel, rock climbing, and many more curiosities found their way in front of my eyes. Sometimes even when they were fully hidden from view! I’ve given up on fighting my interests, and I’ve come to accept that my life must involve juggling them. I don’t know if I’ll get my novel completed this year or not, but I’ve committed to doing more. Today I embark on the writer’s journey to publish a novel. It will be marked with many challenges: patience, outlines, drafts, shiny distractions, friendly gatherings, cleaning, and more! With the help of this site, I plan to catalogue my efforts and improve my writing through various writing projects.
I hope you’ll find this site to be fun and engaging. I know right now it’s very barebones, but no great work begins perfect and fully formed. This website will fully represent my efforts to improve my writing, my life, and my talents. Eventually, I will have additional pages dedicated to my works. I will be posting photographs I’ve taken, articles and short stories I’ve drafted for my writing portfolio, and even a webcomic or two should make their appearance before too long. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to seeing this site grow with me!
